iPhone's most popular feature is coming to MacBook computers - (Video)
Apple excites users with every new update. With the macOS 27.3 update set for official release at the end of this month, a popular iPhone feature is coming to Macs.
MacBook laptops reached a solid state with macOS 27. Apart from its smoothness, the new features allow users to get full utility from the computer. New reports show that MacBook owners will receive a popular iPhone feature at the end of this month.
iPhone's Live Activities Coming to Macs with macOS 27.3
Apple recently released the macOS 27.3 Beta update for developers. In the update released to testers, users noticed the arrival of the Live Activities feature found in the Dynamic Island on iPhones.
The macOS 27.3 developer beta (Beta 3) brought Live Activities support to the menu bar of Apple silicon Mac models without a Dynamic Island.
Apple introduced the Live Activities feature on new MacBook Pro models with touchscreen OLED displays by replacing the display notch with a Dynamic Island design. The company is integrating this function into other Apple silicon Mac computers via the menu bar.
Apps Receiving Live Activities Support in the Menu Bar
The first macOS 27.3 developer beta enabled Live Activities support in the menu bar for Apple's built-in apps. Currently, Apple Music, Clock, and Voice Memos apps, along with system functions such as screen recording, can be viewed in this new menu bar area.
Developers can also add Live Activities support to third-party Mac apps. macOS 26 and later previously supported Live Activities mirrored from iPhones. With the macOS 27.3 update, this functionality works directly on Mac apps.
Apple's Statement and Release Date
Apple provided details on the matter in a press release issued for MacBook Pro models with OLED displays. The company stated that with Live Activities, users can view real-time updates at a glance, accept an AirDrop request, or pause a playing song with a touch of a finger.
Meanwhile, the macOS 27.3 update is expected to be released to the general public in December 2026. It will likely be released around December 4.
