Apple introduces new power adapters, extension cable, and travel kit for Mac
Introducing the MacBook Pro with an OLED display and opening pre-orders, Apple has also put new Mac accessories on sale. Updated 70W and 140W power adapters, AC Connector 2 compatibility, and the returning World Travel Adapter Kit stand out.
In addition to the new and state-of-the-art OLED MacBook Pro, Apple also introduced a range of accessory products. These consist of two updated power adapters, a power extension cable, and a travel adapter kit.
The following products are now available for purchase on the Apple Store:
| Product | Price |
|---|---|
| 70W Power Adapter | $59 |
| 140W Power Adapter | $99 |
| Power Adapter Extension Cable (AC Connector 2) | $19 |
| World Travel Adapter Kit | $39 |
The 70W and 140W power adapters replace the previous models. The most notable change in these new versions is their compatibility with AC Connector 2 accessories. The updated adapters come in the box with selected MacBook Pro models.
World Travel Adapter Kit returns
Apple re-releasing the World Travel Adapter Kit is a positive development for users. The previous kit was discontinued because it became incompatible with the new power adapters. The new version, on the other hand, includes five different interchangeable plug types:
- Type A: North America, Japan
- Type C: Continental Europe, Brazil
- Type D: India
- Type G: United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore
- Type I: Australia, New Zealand
What does this mean for users?
All of the new accessories are currently on sale and shipping immediately. In particular, AC Connector 2 compatibility stands out as a step taken by Apple toward maintaining a standard across its power accessories. The return of the travel kit offers a practical solution for Mac users who travel frequently.
