Affordable iPhone 18e is coming: Features revealed
Apple has taken action for its new affordable model, the iPhone 18e. According to information shared by Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18e will feature a 6.12-inch 60Hz LTPS OLED display, a 2nm Apple A20 chip, and a single 48MP rear camera. Here is what to expect.
Apple, which launches an affordable iPhone every year, has taken action for the iPhone 18e this time. The technical specs of the phone, which is expected to attract more attention particularly in Turkey and other countries with high inflation, have emerged.
Chinese source Digital Chat Station had previously shared information about the iPhone 18e. This time, the tipster presented a more comprehensive picture regarding the phone's chip, cameras, and display via Weibo.
Accordingly, considering that Apple introduced the iPhone 17e in March, the release of the new model in the spring of 2027 seems aligned with the current schedule. Indeed, there were also claims previously that the device could be launched alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2.
60Hz Maintained on the Display
Apple is once again taking a stingy approach when it comes to integrating new technologies. According to DCS's claim, the iPhone 18e will use a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. For users expecting the "e" series to finally gain a higher refresh rate, this means continuing to wait.
A20 Chip and 2nm Process
On the other hand, according to the same leak, the phone will be powered by the Apple A20 chip manufactured on a 2nm production process. A previous claim by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also suggested that the A20 chip would be used in this phone and that it would feature 9GB of RAM.
Limited Changes in Cameras
However, there will be a change on the camera side. According to obtained information, the iPhone 18e will feature a single rear camera with the same 48MP resolution as the main camera on the iPhone 17e. On the front camera, it is claimed that a 24MP sensor could replace the previous model's 12MP sensor. In other words, we will only see a better selfie camera.
What Does It Mean for Users?
Leaks point to the iPhone 18e being a generally limited upgrade compared to the iPhone 17e. No changes are expected in display refresh rate or rear camera resolution. Prominent improvements appear on the processor side and front camera. In addition, unless there is a significant increase in battery capacity, the device's difference in daily use may remain limited. Whether Apple will deliver surprises in these areas remains unclear.
