The iOS 27.2 update did not bring many features, but a major feature update is next. When will iOS 27.3 be released, what features will it bring, and which devices will receive it?
Apple recently released the first iOS 27.3 developer beta. The redesigned Health app, vertical tab and dark mode support in Safari, and Siri artificial intelligence (AI) improvements reached users enrolled in the beta program. The update will roll out to the general public in December.

Because the iOS 27.1 release was offered exclusively for the iPhone Duo model, the update schedule is progressing differently this year. Corresponding to the x.2 version in historical rollout patterns, the iOS 27.3 package is expected to reach all users in the first half of December. In previous years, Apple released its December updates on December 12, 2025, December 11, 2024, December 11, 2023, December 13, 2022, and December 13, 2021, respectively.
Redesigned Health app and Apple Fitness+
The new Health app interface, which was tested in iOS 27.2 but not included in the stable release, returned with iOS 27.3. The new design is divided into three tabs: Insights, Longevity, and Browse. Supported by Apple Intelligence, the interface adapts dynamically to user data. The "Health age" tool located in the Longevity tab processes Apple Watch data to display biological metrics compared to chronological age. Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 owners will be able to monitor their Readiness scores in the morning through this interface.
On the Apple Fitness+ side, a new training feature called "Gym Strength" was added. The system prepares four-week progressive plans based on strength goals, experience, schedule, and available equipment. As weekly workouts are completed, the following week's routine updates according to logged weights and rep counts.

App integration and new languages for Siri AI
Siri AI capabilities have expanded to cover Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather apps. Users can directly give voice commands to find a cafe visited last week or archive files not opened for a year.
An early preview process using the App Intents infrastructure was launched for developers. With this tool, third-party apps can connect functions such as order tracking, reservations, or purchases directly to the Siri AI system. Apple announced that this feature will be available to users within a few months. Siri AI also now supports Turkish, along with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, for beta users enrolled in the developer program.
Apple Intelligence for the Chinese market
The update brings the first Apple Intelligence feature pack to users in China. This pack excludes Siri AI enhancements and covers the following features:

Safari, Apple Music, and StandBy updates
A vertical tab layout placed on the left side was added to the Safari browser for iPhone Duo's inner screen. This layout is also coming to macOS 27.3 and iPadOS 27.3. Safari also introduced the Adaptive Dark Mode option, which can apply a dark interface to sites without native dark mode support.
Apple Music received the "Selfie Sing" feature, allowing users to record their own videos while singing karaoke. Along with the feature accessed via a camera icon added to the lyrics screen, the lyrics view in landscape mode was also overhauled.
The refreshed StandBy screen, previously available only on the iPhone Duo model, was released to other iPhone models. Redesigned analog and digital clock faces, color and widget customizations, and Shared Albums support on the Photos face will work across all compatible devices.

iPhone Duo interface and other system changes
To facilitate one-handed use on the iPhone Duo model with its wide outer screen, the Reachability feature was added to the Accessibility menu. Swiping from the right or left edge of the screen moves the interface into a single corner. Enabled by default, this setting can be turned off in the Touch menu under Settings. On the virtual keyboard of iPhone Duo, key sizes were narrowed and the font size was reduced.
Other minor system-wide changes include:
- Users can switch directly between saved VPN profiles via Control Center.
- A "Use Global Privacy Control" toggle has been added to the Settings section.
- Custom shape and image generation tools have been added to the Freeform app.
What this means for users
iOS 27.3 focuses on interface improvements centered on health and daily use. Presenting health data with biological age analysis and readiness tracking for Apple Watch users makes reading data on a single screen easier. Adaptive dark mode in Safari reduces eye strain on external websites, while switching VPN profiles directly from Control Center simplifies network management.
Editor's Comment
In my view, version 27.3, arriving in December, will satisfy users both in features and visuals. The system currently does not contain major flaws. That leaves new features and the Siri updates Apple announced earlier. December will offer a different experience for iPhone users.
